Presidents Day, originally Washington's Birthday, is celebrated on the third Monday of February. Established in 1885 to honor George Washington, the holiday now recognizes all U.S. presidents. The change to Presidents Day occurred in the 1970s with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, creating more three-day weekends for workers. This day reflects on the leadership and achievements of America's presidents.

Imagine the sky painted with hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow on the sandy beach. It’s a serene way to spend an evening, soaking in the beauty of nature.
 Building up our Community in Unity and Hope in Remembrance As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it's a time for reflection, celebration, and action. This day honors the legacy of Dr. King, a visionary leader who dedicated his life to achieving justice, equality, and peace for all.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is more than just a day off; it's a call to action. By remembering Dr. King's legacy and actively working to build a more just and inclusive community, we can keep his dream alive. Together, we can create a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.  As we turn the page on another year, the New Year offers a moment of reflection and renewal. It’s a time to pause, look back on the year gone by, and set our sights on the future. While many of us focus on setting goals or resolutions, it’s also an opportunity to think about the power of community and the role gratitude plays in our lives.

 This year, the winter solstice will fall on December 21st. This day marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It's a fascinating event as it signifies the moment when the North Pole is tilted farthest from the Sun.
As Floridians prepare for the winter solstice, it's a time to reflect on the resilience and strength of our communities. The challenges of the past year, from hurricanes to homelessness, highlighting the importance of solidarity and support. The winter solstice, with its promise of longer days ahead, serves as a reminder that even in the darkest times, there is hope for renewal and recovery.  At Sim's Park in New Port Richey, the town hosted the tree lighting event on Friday night, December 6th. A large crowd, bundled up for the occasion, came out to enjoy the festivities. It was a heartwarming experience to witness everyone’s laughter and cheer under the crisp night sky at Sim’s Park, despite the typically warm temperature. The festive spirit truly shone through, making it a memorable holiday event.
